The Raven is the premier scout 'Mech. Featuring advanced sensor gathering and jamming equipment, this spotter 'Mech is useful as a target acquisition platform for heavier fire support units like the Catapult.
While the 3L variant of this chassis is extremely popular, it suffers from the other 3 variants being substandard compared to most other mechs, making pilots reluctant to spend the time earning mastery of 2 other variants in order to access higher mastery levels on the 3L. This is understandable as the 2X and 4X are rejected prototype variants, deemed unworthy of being produced over the final 3L variant, and they are present in-game as the only available variants to fill out the requirement of at least 3 per chassis. The hero variant is unpopular due to complete ammunition dependence in a mech too small to carry significant ammunition or to mount significant ballistic weaponry.

The RVN-2X lack the speed, missile hardpoints, and the ECM of the more well regarded Raven RVN-3L. The -2X does share an identical hardpoint loadout as the Jenner JR7-K, but lacks that 'Mech's speed and jump jets.

The RVN-3L is a recently produced version of the scout 'Mech that puts to use quite a number of rediscovered Lostech technologies. Powering the 'Mech is a weight saving XL Engine. ECM protects the 'Mech and nearby friendlies from enemy radar, while BAP allows it to more effectively find enemies. Finally, a NARC Beacon and TAG Laser allow it to tag enemy 'Mechs for other missile equipped 'Mechs to target.
